Pediatric Eye Care
Compassionate, comprehensive eye care for infants, toddlers, and children to support healthy visual development.
Pediatric eye care encompasses all aspects of eye health management for children from birth through adolescence. It includes routine vision screenings, complete eye exams, treatment of childhood eye conditions, and monitoring of visual development over time.
Our team creates a calm, welcoming environment for young patients. We use age-appropriate testing methods to evaluate visual acuity, binocular vision, eye alignment, and ocular health, and work closely with parents to understand any behavioral or academic concerns related to vision.
Many children don't know their vision is poor because they assume everyone sees the same way they do. Routine pediatric eye care catches problems early — such as amblyopia, strabismus, or significant refractive errors — when they are most treatable and least likely to impact development.
Answers to help
you make an informed decision.
Who might consider this treatment?
Pediatric eye care is appropriate for all children from birth onward. We especially encourage parents to bring their children in if they notice squinting, eye rubbing, head tilting, sitting too close to screens, or complaints of headaches — all of which can be signs of a developing vision problem.
What is the typical experience?
Our team specializes in making children feel welcome and relaxed. We use age-appropriate methods, move at your child's pace, and communicate with parents throughout the exam so everyone understands what we're looking at and why.
How long does it usually take?
Pediatric exams typically take 30 to 45 minutes, with extra time built in for very young children or those who need a little more patience and encouragement. We never rush.
Is there anything to keep in mind?
It helps to schedule your child's appointment when they're well-rested and not hungry. Let us know in advance about any developmental concerns, previous vision issues, or family history of eye conditions so we can tailor the exam accordingly.
What should I know about recovery after?
No recovery is needed. If dilation drops are used, your child's near vision will be temporarily blurry and they may be light-sensitive for a few hours. We recommend bringing sunglasses and planning for quiet activities at home that afternoon.
