Consults & Co-Management
Collaborative care coordination with surgeons and specialists to ensure seamless vision care before and after procedures.
Consults and co-management refer to the collaborative care model in which our optometrist works in partnership with ophthalmologists and other specialists to provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative eye care. This is especially common for patients undergoing LASIK, cataract surgery, or other ocular procedures.
We perform pre-operative assessments to determine your candidacy for procedures and coordinate with the surgical team. After your procedure, we manage your follow-up care, monitor healing, adjust medications, and ensure your vision is recovering as expected — communicating directly with your surgeon throughout the process.
Co-managed care means you receive expert monitoring in a convenient, familiar setting without having to travel to a surgical center for every follow-up visit. Our involvement helps catch complications early, optimize your recovery, and ensure you achieve the best possible visual outcome from your procedure.

you make an informed decision.
Who might consider this treatment?
Co-management is ideal for patients who are planning or have recently undergone LASIK, cataract surgery, corneal procedures, or other ocular surgeries and want to receive their follow-up care in a convenient, familiar setting close to home rather than traveling back to the surgical center for every appointment.
What is the typical experience?
Your pre-operative consultation involves a detailed assessment to ensure you're a good candidate for the planned procedure. Post-operative appointments are focused and efficient — we monitor healing, check your vision, manage medications, and communicate directly with your surgeon at each stage.
How long does it usually take?
Pre-operative consultations typically take 45 to 60 minutes. Post-operative follow-up appointments are usually 20 to 30 minutes each and are scheduled at specific intervals — commonly at 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months after surgery.
Is there anything to keep in mind?
It's important to follow all post-operative instructions carefully, including prescribed eye drops, activity restrictions, and follow-up scheduling. Missing appointments during the critical healing window can delay the detection of complications and affect your final visual outcome.
What should I know about recovery after?
Recovery depends on the procedure you've undergone. Your surgeon will provide specific guidance, and our team will monitor your healing closely at each visit. Most patients experience rapid visual improvement in the first few days, with full recovery and stabilization over several weeks.
